What you will learn

  • Compute the facility water temperature that a server specification allows, from the coolant supply limit and the CDU approach.
  • Compare rear-door, single-rack, row and full-hall retrofit paths by their site constraints.
  • Follow a commissioning sequence from loop flush and fill to handover, and refuse handover when a test fails.
  • Define PUE and WUE with the ISO/IEC 30134 series and report both.
  • Plan monitoring, leak response and drills for a live liquid cooling system.

Questions

Does this course teach how to design the plant?

No. It teaches how to plan, question and accept a rollout. A qualified engineer must design and approve the plant. This site gives education and records, not engineering advice.

Do the worked examples use real vendor values?

No. The examples use round numbers to show the method. Use the values from your server maker, your vendor and your site for real work.

Does the certificate approve a rollout or a design?

No. It is a certificate of completion from this site and records that you passed the exam. It is not a licence, an accreditation or an engineering approval.

Cooling notes for data centers

A short note now and again: a vendor worth knowing, a cooling-class update, and one source note. No noise.
